Why Online Therapy?

Access

Convenience

Privacy

Online therapy is a great choice if you:

  • Need a therapist with specific qualifications, experience, or personal characteristics and cannot find such a therapist where they live;
  • Cannot find a therapist locally;
  • Getting to a therapist's office is unduly time-consuming, expensive, or otherwise burdensome;
  • Have difficulty going to a therapist's office because of a disability;
  • Have difficulty finding a therapist who does home visits.

Convenience

Privacy

Therapy is confidential, but online therapy has different implications for privacy than going to a therapist's office. Online therapy protects your privacy better when:

  • You do not want to be seen going to a local therapist's office;
  • You do not want your phone or vehicle to be tracked to a therapist's physical location;
  • You want to avoid running into other people who visit the therapist's location;
  • You know reasonably well how to protect your privacy online.

Convenience

Online therapy may be especially convenient when:

  • You want to save time on traveling to a therapist's office;
  • You prefer speaking with the therapist from the comfort and privacy of your home;
  • You do not require crisis management or emergency psychological services;
  • You are comfortable using online technology to meet with your therapist.

Our Online Therapy Is Appropriate When...

You Have the Technology

You Have the Technology

To participate in online evaluation and therapy sessions, you need a reliable high-speed Internet connection and a device (preferably a desktop or laptop computer or a tablet) that has a Web camera, a microphone, and speakers. A headset (earphones with a microphone) is highly recommended.

You Have the Technology

To participate in online evaluation and therapy sessions, you need to be in a private space where you will not be interrupted. Whether you join the secure video conference with the therapist from home, from your office, or from a hotel room, you will want to make sure that you are not interrupted by family members, roommates, colleagues, friends, clients, neighbors, strangers, or even pets.

You Are Not in a Crisis

Insight Psychology, PLLC, provides services to clients who reside in Washington State. If you do not reside in Washington, or if you expect to move to a different state or to a different country within the next few months, then online therapy with Dr. Blagov may not be the best solution for you. Psychologists are licensed at the state level, and they usually cannot provide services to out of state clients.

You Are Not in a Crisis

You may be in crisis if you cannot take care of yourself, cannot keep yourself self, or are about to hurt or try to kill yourself or another person. Online therapy is not well suited to help people in crisis. If you are in crisis, please call the local crisis response team, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room (and then call your primary care doctor). The national suicide prevention lifeline is 1-800-273-8355 (273-TALK).

There is No Emergency

You Are Not in a Crisis

There is No Emergency

Online therapy is not well suited to help in a psychiatric emergency. A person has an emergency when they stop making sense to others, hallucinate, lose touch with reality, become very paranoid, take actions to harm themselves (like stockpiling medication for an overdose), or talk about hurting or killing themselves or others. If there is an emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. In WA, you may consider calling the local crisis response team.
